grid-5Character Customize

This section allows you to design and personalize your character before using them in a crowd system. You must first click Customize ON to activate the customization system. Once activated, the base character will be loaded, and all customization options—such as facial features, body shape, clothing, and animations—will become available. This ensures that the character setup process is efficient and lightweight when not in use.

Select and customize your character using the Character Customization menu, which is divided into four main submenus:

  • Head Customize Customize head features such as hairstyle, face shape, and facial details.

  • Body Customize Adjust body proportions, shape, and skin tone to match your desired character style.

  • Clothes Customize Choose and modify clothing items, including shirts, pants, accessories, and more.

  • Animation Customize Select and apply character animations such as walking, running, gestures, and poses.

For individual character placement, the following tools help you place and control each

  • Snap to Scene Place the customized character into the scene as an Instance.

  • Instance Start Frame

Set the starting frame of the animation for the placed Instance. This function can also be applied to other Instances created from the same Source.

  • Instance Speed

Control the animation playback speed of the placed Instance. This function also works with other Source-based Instances.

In addition, several supportive tools are provided to make the workflow more convenient:

Save as Preset

Save as Preset allows you to save the current character’s configuration—including clothing, colors, and appearance settings—into the Preset Collection. This makes it easy to reuse or reapply the same setup later without rebuilding it from scratch.

Proxy Preview

Displays the character in a low-polygon version with all clothing items hidden in the 3D Viewport. Useful for quickly previewing animations without affecting performance.

Show / Hide Armature

Toggle the visibility of the character's armature in the 3D Viewport.

Snap to 3D Cursor

Snap to 3D Cursor instantly moves the active character preview to the exact location of the Blender 3D Cursor. This is especially useful for manually positioning characters in specific spots, enabling precise control for art-directed layouts or custom scene setups.
